Dala's 100NX
My finnish sucks, so this thread is going to be in english
Hi everybody, my name is Dala, and my current project is a german imported 100NX GTi.
When I bought it:
Repainted:
New engine:
To bring you up to speed what has been done to it, here's the short version:
-Fixed rusty bits
-Resprayed it black (VW LC9Z)
-Golf MK3 Devil eyes conversion
-SR20VE conversion
-E85 + Standalone engine management (Nismotronic)
-Turbo converted; SR20VET
(long version here http://forums.mightycarmods.com/showthr ... san-NX2000)
Today:
Should be at around 250whp, aiming for 300whp by 2015

Re: Dala's 100NX
Cool project. Not a fan of the front lights, but everything else is pretty unique when it comes to most 100 NX's here in Finland.
JDM only.

I like your engine mods so far
Plan to keep it streetlegal or for track use only?

Pete, I had VW angel eyes on my first 1.6L 100NX,

I'd like to keep it on the road as much as possible, so street"legal" it is (I remove the turbo bits for katsastus). It will hibernate during winter, and I plan to make some tweaks to the engine.

Re: Dala's 100NX
Forgot to make a list of the go fast bits:
-JDM SR20VE 10.3:1 Compression ratio
-Gspec underdrive waterpump pulley
-2.5" custom exhaust all the way (1.25" is stock!)
-Innovate MTX-L Wideband
-Nismotronic engine management system
-RE85 tune (flexfuel vehicle)
-Subaru STI 513cc injectors
-Bluebird turbo manifold
-MLS 7-layer exh. gasket
-Garrett T25, ss oil and water lines
-FMIC with 2.5" piping
-GM 3 bar MAP sensor
-GM IAT sensor
-SR20VET Recirc. valve
-Prothane engine mounts
-ES Shifter bushings
-Battery in the trunk
Probably forgot something. Oh, and I do all the tuning myself, since it's so easy with Nismotronic. Should be at 250whp at 0.5 bar boost

Re: Dala's 100NX
Winter is almost here. Vehicle taken off the road, and upgrades will happen
Emptied the last E85 out of the car, went and filled it up with regular 98 octane. This is neccessary when you store a car for longer than 90 days. If you don't, water will separate from the ethanol, and fall to the bottom of the tank.
Pressurewashed, you can see my to-do list on top of the engine
First order of business is to modify the throttlebody. This is a stock SR20VE TB with the waxstat springs removed. The coolant lines are unused, since they are now used for cooling the turbocharger
Let's perform some weight reduction. Hacksaw is a good tool for this.
Waxstat cold idle removed! It weighs more than you'd think!
Here's what the throttlebody looks like at wide open throttle. Can you guess what I will modify?
I will update this thread more frequently now when I don't daily it

Re: Dala's 100NX
That is a real bad-ass! I had the B12 Sunny so naturally this B13 model was in my mind when I was looking for a new car. Now looking at this, I realize one couldn't do it better than this. There's been so many CA18DET installed in these but this could be the first SR20 in Finland? Even without Turbo it's unique.
Absolutely awesome.
There isn't a mention about suspension mods here, is it stock?

Nyt jo seitsemäs japsi menossa..
Re: Dala's 100NX
Thanks! It's not the first SR20, many GTi's vere imported from other parts of europe, so there's atleast 10-20 of these. I think I'm the only one with a SR20VE, and I am 100% sure I'm the only SR20VE+Tjoksak wrote:That is a real bad-ass! Suspension is stock (GTi has abit better suspension than 1.6). The roads I drive on break lowered cars . So it will probably stay monster truck high for quite some time..
Yesterday, I grinded off the excess bolts, to maximize flow.
You can go more extreme, and grind off the whole middle section, but I didn't have a dremel on hand. Here's a pic of that:
Next order of business is the upper part of the intake manifold. I need to make more vac/boost connections on it.
Need to source some vac nipples and get back to work
Re: Dala's 100NX
Where is this car located? I find this really intresting project and it seems you really know what you are doing. Keep us posted, and welcome to forum!

Tonight I drilled and tapped the manifold for three additional 3/8 NPT vacuum/boost ports. I put a plug in one hole, since I don't have a dash boost gauge yet (lol still running turbo )
There is not really much else to do with the manifold, the SR20VE has one of the best flowing heads when it comes to SR20's. Everything is gasket matched from factory, and the runners are smooth. I think I will just clean it up really good
Re: Dala's 100NX
Not much to update, I just clean everything I dissasemble, and it will make a huge difference later on
Another part I cleaned and modified is the idle control system. I turned the AAC valve 180 degrees (red arrow) to make the manifold less crowded. You'll see what I mean when I assemble it
Finally, I removed the Subaru STI injectors and sent them to be ultrasonically cleaned.
This was a good time to replace all the philips head bolts with ss hex bolts instead. This reduces the possiblity of stripping said bolts.
I also replaced the fuel pressure regulator & fuel dampener bolts with stainless hex.

Re: Dala's 100NX
Mightycarmods recently did a video on intercooler water sprayers, figured I would make one myself
Here's a rough draft, I already drilled holes in the front bumper, and mounted the windshield sprayers. I have the bottle+motor already too!
To control it, I'm going to use a generic output in Nismotronic. I know that an OR function will be introduced in a future update, and I plan to run it like this:
IAT > 40*C OR Load > 1500mbar AND TPS >90%
More on this later

Re: Dala's 100NX
Some pictures of the actual install:
The bottle and motor, 15$ IIRC
Where I mounted it in the bay, it's pretty down low, not really visible unless you look from it above.
Testing, works perfectly!
Sorry for the yellow-ish pictures, I am using a high power greenhouse light
Now I just need to wait for the next Nismotronic update

Re: Dala's 100NX
Not much has happened, I'm waiting on parts
Uninstalled Nismotronic from my european ECU. It's a shame, since the PCB has been professionally re-clearcoated, gonna have to do the same to the new one
Manifold installed, I try to sleeve as much of the cables I can when I re-install them.
Overnight parts from hong-kong... Doublerow pins so I can chip a new ECU. 5mm silicone hoses, so I can get rid of all red ones
Clutch cable modification. I removed the pressed in pin (these seize up, and make the clutch hard). Don't do it like in this picture, use a smooth bolt, and use a locknut. I later switched to said setup.
Can you guess what I'm fabricating?
